I worked on exploring a Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) accelerometer. The purpose of this accelerometer will be to measure the vibrational oscillations that are occurring in our cryostat. The cryostat, which can reach 20mK, has a tower that hangs down and we suspect the bottom of it swings a non negligible amount. I chose the ADXL327 accelerometer because it is small, inexpensive, and tri-axial. I have done frequency response tests (using a sub-woofer to make vibrations) and now I am in the process of rewiring it so that it is suitable for the conditions inside the cryostat.
